River travel is the only way to get around much of Panama’s remote Darien rainforest. While threading my way up the Río Turia via dugout canoe, I stopped in the Wounaan indigenous village of Vista Alegre. Rainy season was in full swing, but the downpour certainly didn’t bother the kids of the village, including this little girl.
