Travel Video of Volcano Santiaguito
Have you ever wanted to know what trekking on the moon is like? I came pretty close while hiking Volcano Santiaguito in Guatemala. We camped right next to the active crater as it exploded every 3 or 4 hours. The 8 hour trek getting there was not easy, but the incredible end result was worth the effort!

That’s a terrific video – it made me think you would need a whole production team to get that quality.
Is that as near as you could get safely? Did it rain ashes? And how did you do that stop-motion or speeded up movement on the video?

We hiked up to the rim of the crater, but our campsite was further away. Sometimes it did rain ash, but that depended on the wind direction.
The stop-motion is called Time Lapse Photography. I use a timer to take a photo every few seconds for an hour or two. Then put them all together as a video later.
Cool video and even better tunes. I can’t believe you let that poor guy struggle while you got the video – it was a great video though = )
wow!!!
