Found this vibrant & flashy looking crab avoiding the rising tide while walking back from a surfing session in the waves at Popoyo Beach. I immediately ran to my room, grabbed my camera, put it in a dry bag, and proceeded to swim back across the flooded river I needed to cross to take a photo of him before he disappeared.
I think he wanted to fight me. ![]()

That’s one colorful crustacean. A bunch of those would make a great outfit for Lady GaGa. If they could hold on long enough, that is. It almost looks like it’s trying to break dance. You say you were walking back from a surfing session. Was that before or after dirt biking, SCUBA diving, beach camping, or drinking rum I can’t buy here? I just wanted to be clear on this.

Umm – Think crab cakes with nice lump crab meat.

He’s even more colorful than the Sally Crabs I saw in the Galapagos!
