These dapper gentlemen are Policía National. Nicaragua’s finest. They were wading through a river with me on the way to Popoyo Beach, a tranquil surf town that’s off the beaten path a bit. Popoyo’s local businesses hired them to watch over the town at night. Now that this secluded beach is starting to see more travelers showing up to surf and enjoy the cheap & un-touristy atmosphere, crime is on the rise.
