Morning Street Corner in León [PHOTO]
Today I went for an early morning walk around the city of León, Nicaragua. There is a lot of activity in the streets at 6:30am. This woman was selling newspapers to morning commuters on the street corner, as large groups of giggling Catholic schoolgirls walked to class. My favorite time to take my camera out is early in the morning — the streets are usually empty, lighting is great, and it’s typically very peaceful & quiet.

Those giggling school girls are saying, “Look at that beat-up bald guy, I bet his sister beat the daylights out of him for not providing cigars to his Dad”. “He deserved it”. “We might have a wack at him ourselves!”
Hi Matt,
Did you stop and ask them if they were Catholic or were their shoes actually patent leather? Maybe they were just pretending to be Catholic because they thought you were a priest! While you were out walking the hours away Courtney had her baby! A little girl born earlier today–Lucy!!!
Tell her congratulations for me!
I love that you captured the local “AA” meeting place. Strangely, I have noticed the “AA” in every single city I’ve been to within the first couple of days. It always seems to be near my hostel…. hmmm.
I’ve been noticing them everywhere too… Maybe there is more than one in each city?
