Daily Travel Photo: Beware the Chupacabra!

Granada Nicaragua Chupacabra

Careful! Chupacabra Crossing

The Chupacabra is a dangerous nighttime creature that attacks & sucks the blood out of people and livestock all throughout Latin America! Or so the legends say…

I found this ominous-looking sign deep in the jungles of Nicaragua, while walking back to my hammock in the dark. Suddenly I heard a large animal passing through the foliage next to me! When I shined my headlamp in that direction, I caught the flicker of a pair of eyes deep in the shadows of the thick underbrush…

Did I just spot the elusive & deadly Chupacabra?!
Sweet dreams…

A few years ago the Chupacabra appeared almost every night on Chile’s main 9 o’clock news.

I think there was nothing else going on at the time (no political upheavels or natural disasters around the world) and they discovered the chupacabra got great ratings.

I must admit, the scenes of chickens and sheep sprawled across the ground without a drop in their bodies led most to continue believing in the legend.

In the United States aliens kill the livestock, in Latin America it’s the Chupacabra’s fault.

Those are just mouse eyes peaking out at you. I myself am a famous mouse fighter. Send me a plane ticket and I’ll take care of it for you.

Next time I’ll be prepared! I’m gonna need a net, tranquilizer darts, motion activated tree cameras, and a goat. Now I have to figure out how to fit all that in my backpack…

Come on Matt. I painted that sign. Our chupacabra has green eyes. It inspired our new tee shirt that reads, “Chupacabra Sucks”
