Squam Lake

Holderness, New Hampshire

Nestled in the White Mountains of New Hampshire is a small body of water called Squam Lake. A quiet hideaway surrounded by rolling hills and green forests. Boat traffic is minimal, fish are plentiful, and beautiful little lakeside cottages dot it’s shores. It’s part of the area I grew up in.

Love it. :-) It reminds me of White Lake in Tamworth — I grew up camping there (first went at 12 days old!), even took my first steps in a tent there. Lovely part of the world. :-)

Squam Lake, the setting for “On Golden Pond” movie. I bet it’s cold. Loons, smallmouth bass, and a seagull or tern or two. Did I mention blueberries along the shoreline?
