Ometepe Island Dirtbiking
I had a great time in Nicaragua motorcycling around Ometepe Island. The dusty villages, livestock traffic-jams, rutted back roads, and a landscape dominated by volcanoes was the perfect backdrop for a short dirtbike trip. Getting pulled over by the police and crashing the bike just added to the experience. ![]()

Just great ! as usual ! getting used to the quality of your reports… hope I’m not getting bored !!!
Congrats Mr Matt !
Keep enjoying, you’re good at it !
see you !
Glad you like them Delphine! I’ll try to keep you entertained…
I really dig your videos. A lot of interesting angles. The one where you fell off the bike was pretty cool but yes not cool that you fell. What camera did you use?
Travel Gear Review: Women’s travel shoes do not have to look frumpy
Thanks Grace! Yeah, it was fun because I didn’t break anything.
Here is a list of the camera gear I’m using…
Love the video matt and your crash is awesome… Love your face
Glad nothing serious happened like to my friend when we had the crash with the quad at ometepe…

It was bad? What happened to him?
Excellent video! I agree with Delphine, the quality of your work is awesome. The best part of that video was the police, volcano scenes and the baby horse running down the street. Did you end up having to pay the police man off?
The Day I Almost Swam With Whale Sharks
No, but only because he saw the camera attached to my helmet…
LOL, I talked about renting a bike on Ometepe. After watching you fly off and getting the shake down, I think I’m happier with my experience of the jam-packed Chicken bus!
Agree with the others, excellent video – very well execution and editing!
Back to Cancun
I literally LOL when you crashed, glad your safe!! Did you have to payoff the cop? looked like you went into your wallet for money. Be safe my friend.
I was looking for registration papers. He was eyeing my wallet like he was expecting something, but then I saw him notice the camera on my head. After that he told me I could go.
I’ll give you a 9.5 on the dismount only because you did not raise your hands when you landed. As for the cop, I think pretending not to speak Spanish may have actually worked in your favor as well. Oh, and I’m starting to notice what may be a trend in your videos which involves crashing. Try not to do that when you get down here and head down death road.
Glad I’m not the only one who noticed that trend…
I really liked your music selection for this video. Even with the fall, that dirtbike looks like a fun way to travel!
Travel Photo Roulette Round 21!
Thanks Lori! It is fun.
Looks like some pretty great landscape to cruise around on!
Another awesome video, good job!
Though, I must point out it looks a little faster than normal speed during the crash portion – did you do that for dramatic effect?
Welcome To Greenblayza 2.0
Of course!
That was awesome. Loved the peppy music in the background. I also liked the hammock coverage at the end. After crashing and being pulled over by the police it was definitely time to relax.

Right? Everyone needs a hammock nap after a day like that.
Wow, great video! Did you end up having to give that cop any money? You kind of made that suggestion. My wife and I are planning on moving down to Granada this year, and your blog is giving us a little taste of what we can expect. Good luck on your travels. I noticed you are in Panama now? You have to check out Del Valle De Anton and Bocas while you’re there. I look forward to reading more of your blog. Happy Travels!
So jealous you got to see so much of the island. It rained or was overcast the whole time we were there, but you know a place is truly beautiful when you can appreciate it even in the rain! Cannot watch the video on the computer I am on, but I am glad you are still in one piece!
Volcano Boarding in Leon: The Most Fun I Never Had
That’s odd, it won’t play? What does it say?
Yo Matt!
A buddy of mine pointed me to your video as in his words, “one of the tidiest videos I’ve ever seen…,” and it was a sweet video. I agree with the folks above about the crash scene (who doesn’t love a crash!
, the horse, and the quiet ending.
