Never-Ending Search for Great Travel Pants

Lightweight Travel Pants

If you’re looking for a great pair of travel pants, look no further. The Blackhawk Lightweight Tactical Pants are my favorite.

They are tough, comfortable, good looking, lightweight, fast drying, and have tons of secure zippered pockets. There is a zippered wallet pocket on your butt that is designed to keep the wallet riding high, so it’s comfortable to sit down.

There is a huge hidden zippered pocket on your right side too. This isn’t some skimply little pocket that doesn’t have enough room to hold anything, it’s big. There are also 2 small zippered ones on top of the normal cargo pockets (fits an iPhone perfectly).

The regular cargo pockets have a partitioned elastic band inside, to keep things from floating around. Perfect to clip a small flashlight or pen to. I like to stay organized. :)

Pickpockets will have a tough time with these, and there are plenty of places to hide some cash.

Tough as hell, and practically waterproof. I’ve even used them as snowboarding pants with long underwear underneath, and had zero problems.

They are a bit heavier-duty than most travel pants out there, with double the fabric on the seat & knees. This means they air-dry a bit slower than others. But they offer more protection from the elements than others too, which is more important to me than drying-time.

Another great feature is the hidden elastic waistband that doesn’t actually look like one. I hate the look of travel pants with elastic waistbands, even if they do happen to let you move around easier. These pants have the best of both worlds!

They come in Black, Dark Green, and Khaki. But I really wish they came in Brown too…

They are relatively “normal” looking, the extra-large back pockets (perfect for a map or moleskin notebook) are the only things that make them stand out a bit. All you need to do is give em’ a good roll in the dirt for that true “vagabond” look.

You can pick up a pair here.
