Selling Iguana at La Terminal Market

This is La Terminal Market in Guatemala City, Guatemala. The place is alive with color, noise, and motion. Whole sections dedicated to just onions, strawberries, or oranges. Mountains of them. You can buy 100 oranges here for $5. This man was selling iguana meat. I didn’t try it, but plan to before I leave.

The market has it’s own unofficial undercover vigilante force called “The Guardian Angels”. Businesses pay them to keep thieves out, and they do this by shooting anyone who is caught stealing. This is why no one steals in there anymore…
