Grey Reef Shark

Pacific Harbor, Fiji

This is one of at least 20 sharks I swam with on a SCUBA dive off the coast of Fiji’s Beqa Island last week. Grey Reef Sharks like this one grow to 6 feet long, and can be very aggressive. But attacks on humans, like with most sharks, are rare. There are only 13 recorded shark attacks from this particular species worldwide. We witnessed 5 different types of shark on our cageless dive with Beqa Adventure Divers, including a massive 12-foot Bull Shark. Full article to come! :D

It’s full of fish heads to feed the sharks, getting them to come close to us.

Hi Sally, this photo was taken at about 30 feet (10m) deep. The maximum depth of the whole dive was 95 feet. Yes, it was taken with a GoPro, and I did some post-processing to the image in photoshop. Color correction, sharpening, noise reduction, etc. Happy New Year to you too!
