El Castillo is a little town located along the Rio San Juan river on the Nicaragua/Costa Rica border. The fortress was built to protect the city of Granada from getting invaded by pirates who sailed up the river into Lake Nicaragua. The castle has been the scene of many bloody battles in the past.

That place looks like a face. The windows are the eyes and the ramp is a tongue and it has arms. It’s waiting to eat pirates.
Menacing. I see a face too.

The “eyes” are where the canons are. You could wheel them around to try your hand at aiming. Not easy! They are very heavy, and wooden wheels don’t roll well.
Great picture, Matt! I agree it looks like a face. It reminds me of someone. Hmmmm, oh, I know, looks exactly like the Curmudgeon on a good day (which is not all that often so it was hard to recall). He is also always ready to eat pirates!!!
Who is this person? No one knows about The Curmudgeon! She should be made to walk the plank; of course she would probably fall off before she got to the end.
I think he may be a pirate, with all those boats he’s accumulated…
