The magical cenote of Dzitnup (or X’Keken in Mayan) is a must see while traveling through the Yucatan in Mexico. Because I was traveling during the slow season here (too hot for most people), there was almost no one at this magnificent cenote. My friends & I practically had it to ourselves!

Legend has it that Dzitnup Cenote was discovered when farmers tried to find a pig that had fallen down the hole and disappeared. The pool is filled with slow-moving black fish, and bats fly over your head while you swim around. :)

I was at the Yucatan almost the same time with you (followed it on twitter), too bad we didn't cross path. This cenote was the last spot I visited before ending my trip in Yucatan. What a perfect way t end my trip, swimming in fresh water after baked in Yucatan sun for days. Your photo is magnificent! http://www.facebook.com/note.php?saved&&suggest…

Cenotes are some of the most amazing places I’ve ever been too! Can’t wait to get back to Mexico and explore more cenotes… and actually get to dive in this time!
