Daily Travel Photo: The Lone Wall at Uxmal

Crumbling Mayan Wall at Uxmal

The Lone Wall of Uxmal

It doesn’t look like it in this photo, but getting to this spot was quite a hike. Even though there were a few busloads of German tourists at the Uxmal Ruins, no one hiked down the little trails out to this massive ruin still covered in trees, let alone climb to the top of it to see what was there. I was able to find some cool spots out away from the main sites that made the trip worth while.

dang, and I thought I was the only one who went here… (lol). There were some aggressive mot mot birds there, I think a chick had fallen on the ground.

I saw the birds there too. I also got stung by something, not sure if it was an insect or plant, but it turned part of my leg bright red.
