Daily Travel Photo: San Gervasio Church
This magnificent building is the San Gervasio Church in the main plaza of Valladolid, Mexico. Like many other Franciscan cathedrals in the area, it was built using the stones of ancient Mayan ruins. The Spanish destroyed the Mayan buildings and erected their own, often right on top of the original Mayan sites. While the church is impressive, how it was made disgusts me.

Gorgeous photo!
Beautiful picture!
Thx. It was raining when I took this.
I had to hold a folded bandana over the lens to keep raindrops off it.
Hard to believe:-)
Stellar photo mate. I’d really love to travel Mexico. Maybe learn a bit of Spanish first…
Thanks Jake! I hardly knew any Spanish while I was in Mexico. Charades works fine.
It sure would enhance interactions with the locals though eh?
I feel like that’s the point of total immersion in a new culture… the point at which you’re dreaming in their language.
For sure. Just sitting in silence during rides can be kind of awkward…
Wow…this is really stunning!
