Daily Travel Photo: Jungle Volcano Mushroom

Guatemala Volcano Mushroom

Mushroom on Jungle Floor in Guatemala

Found this white mushroom on the jungle floor on the hike up the San Pedro Volcano the other day. I have no idea what it is. There were all kinds of new flowers, plants, and mushrooms growing all over the place in the dark fertile volcanic soil. Almost all of which I had never seen before. It makes a hike that much more interesting!

Really enjoying your photos and travel tips Matt. How do you like your Spanish teacher/school? I did 2 weeks of Spanish school in Antigua this May. I am going back to Guate in January and was thinking of starting with some more school, possibly in a different area (like Lago Atitlan).

I highly recommend Escuela Cooperativa in San Pedro. The town is very relaxed, and I wake up to beautiful views every day. A large percentage of your fee goes to charity projects too.

It’s a fairy ink cap mushroom! I discovered some by a waterfall near Arenal Volcano not too long ago :) (You can see mine here: http://www.delapuravida.com/2011/photo-costa-rica-waterfall-mushrooms/)
